Frequently asked questions

Style

How would you describe your style?

We do not feel that photography should be limited by a genre.  Our style has been born from experience over many years, it is organic and forever evolving with every moment that we witness.  We photograph each wedding with a more documentary approach, using our instincts and our hearts to capture the emotion and the flow of the day as it unfolds before us.  While we are very unobtrusive in our methods we believe that there is also a place for beautifully composed and naturally posed photographs of the bride and groom together.  Essentially, we are storytellers.

Do you still shoot the traditional group shots?

Yes.  We both fully understand the importance of the family photographs.  They are a record of your family during an incredibly important time in your lives.  Around four weeks before your wedding we shall get together to discuss the details of the day.  Amongst other questions, we shall ask you to list the important posed family photographs.  Please bear in mind that while we are very happy to include any posed family shots that you require, we are known for our documentary story telling approach.  A very long list of group shots and the time that they take to organise will hinder our ability to capture the natural storytelling images.  We suggest that your final list should include no more than 8-10 groupings.  They shall be photographed with classic style, dignity and will be conducted quickly and easily.

Coverage and travel

Who are the photographers?

We are!  Nigel and Chrissie Davison.  We shoot every single wedding together.  Neither of us is the lead shooter or the second shooter, we are as experienced as each other and together we create a comprehensive flowing visual narrative of each wedding day that we photograph.

Do you travel for weddings?

Yes, however due to our family commitments, we do limit how many commissions we take outside of the North East per year.  We are also available for a select number of commissions abroad for overseas and destination weddings.

Do you edit the images before we receive them?

Yes, we do.  Every image that you receive is individually hand-edited.  We assess each image for colour and tone, and unsightly distractions such as fire escape signs are removed.

How long will it be before we see our pictures?

Typically your images are ready for collection around four weeks after your wedding however during the height of the summer this may be extended to six weeks.

How many photographs will we receive?

The number of photographs taken depends on many factors - the length of the coverage, the number of guests.  We do not limit the amount of photographs that we take on a wedding day and shall take as many as is required to capture the story of your wedding day including many that you won’t have noticed being taken. From the photographs taken we shall select around 700 photographs that together tell a stunning visual story of your wedding day.

Can we print from the USB?

Yes.  We shall provide you with the edited high resolution digital files with a personal use licence that will allow you to make an unlimited number of printed reproductions and copies for family and friends

What are your albums like?

You have the choice of a classically matted wedding album from Queensberry where images are set within mats and mounted onto the pages and Graphistudio where images are printed directly onto the pages for a more modern wedding book.  You can see them on our albums page here, or why not make an appointment and take a look at them for yourself.

How does the album design process work?

You have two choices, either you can choose every image that is to be placed within the album or we can make the initial selection for you to get you started, making things a little easier for you.  Chrissie will produce a visually compelling album design layout that flows with the images chosen and compliments the storytelling narrative within the photographs.  You have the option to make a number of changes if you wish before you sign off the album and it goes to print.

Do you do engagement shoots?

Yes.  A pre-wedding shoot in a location of your choice is available for only £150.00 and includes your choice of 10 individually edited high resolution files and printing licence. (Pre-Wedding shoots must be located with a 20 mile radius from our Co. Durham base.).  Not only will Nigel create some beautiful images to mark the significance of your engagement but more importantly, you get the chance to get to know us.  The shoot is a great chance to build upon our relationship with you, to allow us to get to know you both as a couple and for couples that are a little camera shy, it will massively improve your confidence.
