Healey Barn - Rosie and Allan

As North East wedding photographers, we have had the pleasure of capturing many beautiful weddings at Healey Barn in Northumberland, and it was a joy to be back again for Rosie and Allan’s wedding day.

The day began with the bride getting ready at home, with her sister, her niece, and her two adorable cats. When I arrived, I was greeted with smiles and a warm welcome. Bridal preparations can often be crazy busy, with people coming and going, and everyone trying to get ready at the same time, but the atmosphere at Rosie’s was so calm and relaxing.

The bride looked absolutely stunning in her beautiful gown and intricate hairstyle, and her smile lit up the room as she walked down the aisle to meet her groom. The ceremony was filled with laughter and love as Rosie and Allan exchanged their vows. Their love for each other was evident in every moment, and it was a privilege to capture these memories for them.

Following the ceremony, and a few drinks in the courtyard, the newlyweds and their guests made their way to the Oak Room for the wedding breakfast. The room was beautifully decorated with flowers and candles, the atmosphere was lively and celebratory, and the speeches were both emotional and funny.

Rosie and Allan, along with their friends and family, were a joy to photograph, and we were so grateful to have been a part of their special day.

Thief Hall - Laura and Sandra

Laura and Sandra’s wedding at Thief Hall in North Yorkshire was our first time visiting this venue. It’s situated between Northallerton and Thirsk. and is a blank canvas wedding venue that allows you to do whatever you please. It is a converted barn with incredible views of the surrounding countryside and offers on-site cottages for guests.

Laura and Sandra’s wedding was one that we had been looking forward to for a long time. We first met Laura way back in 2010 when we photographed her sister Rachel’s wedding at Langley Castle. Her parents are in the wedding industry as well, so over the course of time, we got to know the family well. Laura is one of those people who is so much fun to spend time with, I don’t think I’ve ever seen her without a smile on her face. She found her soulmate in Sandra, who is one of the most warm-hearted people I have ever met.

As Laura and Sandra are regular churchgoers, bringing religion into their day was important to them. Sadly, at the moment, the church does not perform same-sex weddings or official blessings - I hope that one day this may change, so they married the day before in a short private ceremony. Their Priest, Reverend John, who also married Rachel, joined us for the day - and on his birthday too, to perform a ceremony for them. It was wonderful and emotional to see, and I won’t pretend that I didn’t shed a few tears.

The day continued on with live music by Last Anthem, cocktails, dancing on the terrace, a special musical performance by Laura’s niece and nephew, and at the end of the day, the most stunning sunset.

Their day was perfection, and I am so happy we were able to be a small part of it.

Le Petit Chateau - Laura and Dean

In May, we found ourselves back at Le Petit Chateau, a gorgeous wedding venue in the pretty village of Otterburn in Northumberland, for Laura and Dean’s wedding. They’d told us beforehand that they were going to be nervous in front of the camera, but honestly, you wouldn’t have known it, they were amazing! They were such a fun couple to work with, full of energy and life, and clearly crazy about each other. The guests got on board with the fun vibe of the day too, from Dean’s best man, who when asked during the ceremony for the ring, produced a ring pop, to the flower girl and page boy dancing in the aisle while they signed the register. Their parents even saw the fun of it all and pulled some crazy poses during the family photos. It’s a long post today, but make sure you get to the bottom, the pictures of the flower girl and page boy dancing together after the first dance are adorable!

Newton Hall - Emily and Kieran

Emily and Keiran were married on an unseasonally warm February day at Newton Hall in Northumberland. After all of the awful weather that we had been having, it made such a nice change to see the sun come out. After their ceremony, and a bit of a mingle with their guests, Emily and Keiran joined us for a walk around the grounds for a few pictures, along with a quick trip to the beach for a few more. It was a fabulous day with a fantastic couple.
