Jesmond Dene House - Danielle and Craig
Jesmond Dene House in Newcastle is a stunning wedding venue and was the perfect setting for Danielle and Craig's special day. They exchanged vows in the Great Hall in front of their closest friends and family, after which, they all headed outside to enjoy the grounds and celebrate the marriage. The speeches were a real highlight of the day, with the best man delivering a hilarious speech that had everyone in stitches. The groom’s speech was also fantastic, sharing funny moments that they had shared together along with a lovely tribute to his bride. After their speeches, Danielle and Craig played a game of Mr and Mrs, which was also a fun moment, revealing how well they knew each other. After dinner, the four of us headed out for some photos in the beautiful surroundings of Jesmond Dene. The waterfall and bridge provided a stunning backdrop as the sun started to set, casting a golden glow over the happy couple.
It was a wonderful day with a great couple, and so much fun to photograph.
If you're planning your own wedding at Jesmond Dene House, and are looking for a wedding photographer, please get in touch, we would love to hear from you.
“What an amazing surprise during our honeymoon. We sat by the bar with Craig’s tablet at 2 pm and went through them all. We cried our eyes out and laughed our heads off, it was a very raw and emotional afternoon. They are just absolutely incredible. We want to say a massive thank you to you both for playing such an integral part in our big day and capturing the most incredible photos. We are absolutely over the moon with all the images you have captured.“ - Danielle and Craig.
St Nicholas Cathedral and Kirkley Hall - Naomi and Alexander
Listening to the local news on television while getting ready for this amazing wedding, two familiar voices stopped me in my tracks. Looking up, I saw Naomi and Alex, blissfully happy, sharing their thoughts about getting married the next day - the same day and at the exact same time as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Their day proved to be no less memorable, and just as stunning.
They chose a real contrast in venues for their wedding - which we loved! It was a city meets country affair filled with love, celebration and fun. Their traditional religous wedding ceremony took place in the Cathedral Church of St Nicholas in Newcastle, attended by all of their family and friends, (I have never seen the Cathedral looking so full.) moving onto Kirkley Hall, and a huge marquee set up for them within the grounds of the hall.
Their day reflected the very best of a relaxed yet traditional english wedding bringing two wonderful families together.
Tynemouth and Jesmond Dene House - Jayne and Ian
Jayne and Ian's wedding earlier this year took place in St Oswin's church in Tynemouth followed by a reception in Jesmond Dene House. Having photographed the weddings of both of Jayne's cousins, Helen last year and Laura in 2014, it was wonderful to see the family again and a joy to be a part of another family wedding. Jayne made the perfect bride, simply stunning, and Ian, smart as a dart chose a black tie for the occasion.
Here is a peak of their traditionally elegant wedding day.
Horton Grange - Danielle and Daniel
We first met Danielle when we photographed her sister's wedding at Linden Hall in 2014 after she in turn was recommended to us from another friend. We felt like we already knew them so well when it was their turn to be married earlier this year. They were married in the stunning St Aidan's RC church in their home town of Ashington and chose the intimate setting of Horton Grange, situated close to Ponteland for their wedding reception.
Everything was simply beautiful, Danielle's stunningly vibrant bouquet, the delicately arranged table details and the array of fairylights strung up into the trees outside the venue really were something to remember. Here are a few of our favourite images from their wedding day.
The Vermont Hotel - Kimberley and Alex
Nigel and I love a good winter wedding. The dark nights and the wet weather offer us a host of opportunities to be creative and really force us to think outside the box. Married last November, Kimberley and Alex's big day was one of those weddings.
After getting ready at home, they were married in the beautiful Church of St Helen's in Low Fell, Gateshead heading over to the chic 1930's art deco inspired Vermont Hotel. It's city centre location, elegance and style, and it incredible views over the river Tyne make it one of our favourite venues.
Kimberley and Alex met through their shared love of Classic American cars and in particular because of the 1965 Cadillac that Alex and Kimberley's brother restored together. It was naturally the only choice for their transport for the day and the perfect scene for a romantic picture of the couple together at the end of the day.
Jesmond Dene House - Lisa and Anthony
The gothic great hall of Jesmond Dene House in Newcastle along with entire west wing of the elegant arts and crafts style building became the setting for Lisa and Anth's beautiful wedding last summer. It was a day of fun and laughter and a joy to be a part of.
Lisa and Anth chose some fantastic decorations for their big day, the carnival light up love letters from Coco Luminaire made for a fantastic addition to the ceremony creating a striking contract against the dark wood panels of the hall, and we loved the giant balloons adorning the aisle. Balloons have not been popular at weddings for a few years but perhaps they are making a comeback - they looked amazing and so stylish! Handmade bunting was strung across the west wing arched entrance and the decorated apple carts and wooden table centres were made by the groom himself.
