Healey Barn - Louise and Mark

Healey Barn weddings are always wonderful to photograph, so it was great to be back again for Louise and Mark’s wedding day. Mark started his day, by getting ready with his dad in the Coach House at Close House, while Louise got ready at her parent’s home. Louise looked stunning in her v-neck lace wedding gown, finished off so beautifully with a flower crown and her mam’s wedding veil. A family friend drove her to Healey Barn in his vintage car, arriving in style to Healey Barn. After their ceremony, their three adorable Cocker Spaniels popped by for a visit, they were energetic and lively, but also as good as gold and even sat to have a picture taken with their mam and dad. After their meal and some really funny speeches, the four of us headed to the woods for a few photos. Their wedding style made me think of rustic country blended with traditional elegance and it worked so well.

It was also great to work alongside Northern Acoustic, a husband and wife duo who provided the music for the day.

Anarchy Brewery - Sophie and Stu

Sophie and Stu’s wedding was our first at Anarchy Brewery. Anarchy Brewery is a working brewery in Newcastle creating local craft beer, and recently they have started offering their tap room for hire for weddings. With its industrial vibe, ‘beer hall’ style tables, and large art murals created by local artists, it’s a really cool place for a wedding. Sophie and Stu initially booked another venue for their big day, but it was forced into closure and their wedding was canceled. Stu, who used to work at Anarchy Brewery, got in touch with them and asked if they could host their wedding there instead, so their venue was changed. As the Brewery was not yet licensed for wedding ceremonies, they did all of the official bits the day before at the registry office, and on the day, Stu’s friend - who dressed as Elvis for the occasion, stepped in to perform their ceremony in front of their family and friends. A cool brewery venue, an Elvis impersonator, live musicians, street food from Hip to be Square and Chucho’s, and personalised craft beer favors - who could ask for more? It was a day full of life and energy and it was so much fun to photograph.

Durham Castle - Briony and Edward

Durham Castle weddings are always a joy to photograph. I love the history and character of the castle, the old elegance of the interior, the dark wood paneling, the cathedral-high ceilings, and the stained glass windows to match. It really is something out of a fairytale. The Castle couldn’t have been a more perfect choice for Briony and Edward’s wedding day.

Being from out of the area, Briony hired a lovely little Airbnb close to Nevilles Cross for her and her girls to get ready in, while the lads got ready in the castle before walking down to St Nic’s church in Durham’s Market Place for their wedding ceremony. By the time Briony arrived, a crowd of onlookers had gathered, who cheered and applauded as she got out of the wedding car and walked into the church on her dad’s arm. After a beautiful ceremony, we jumped into our cars and headed over to Prebends Bridge for a few photographs while their guests made their way up to the castle for their celebrations. It was a beautiful elegant wedding, and we loved every moment.

Healey Barn - Laura and Elliot

Laura and Elliot’s wedding day at Healy Barn in Northumberland was another fabulous day at this stunning venue. We started the day with them both as they got ready in Healey Hall, a beautiful Georgian mansion a short distance away, and with 17 bedrooms, it was large enough to accommodate many of their guests too. Their day flowed beautifully, from their romantic ceremony to their energetic party at the end of the evening. It was a day full of laughter and fun.

Laura had told us before their wedding that she really wanted to get those perfect sunset shots at the end of the day, however sometimes as the light dims in the evening, there is no sunset to photograph. This was one of those days, but because we love a bit of a challenge, we headed to the woods, got the flash guns out, added an orange gel, and made them a sunset!
