Kristina and Richie decided to postpone their wedding day at Healey Barn when it became apparent that Covid restrictions at the time would not allow them to have the day that they wanted, so instead, they chose to get married at their local registry office - Hexham House with their closest family and friends present and keep the day at Healey Barn for a big celebration when Covid 19 would no longer hamper their plans. We had never worked at Hexham House before, so it came as a pleasant surprise to see how lovely the building was, surrounded by parkland with the abbey serving as a stunning backdrop to their family photos. Afterwards, we all headed back to Kristina and Richie’s home for an outdoor drinks reception in their garden and some takeaway food. It was a fab few hours with a fab couple, and we can’t wait to join them for day 2 of their celebrations next week!
Healey Barn - Eleanor and Adam
“Just wanted to send a message and say THANK YOU so much for everything yesterday! We had the best day and can’t wait to do it all again in October with you both! So pleased the rain managed to hold off for the photos, we can’t wait to see them! It was so good to see you both after so long! You two really are the best!”
After having postponed their wedding day twice, Eleanor and Adam’s big day finally arrived in May. Restrictions of no more than 30 guests, and no dancing were still in place so they also continued with their plans for a second wedding which followed in October. They chose Healey Barn for both of their wedding days - a fabulous venue with so many great spots for photographs, so we had no fears about coming up with new ideas for each day. Their intimate wedding ceremony was followed by drinks in the courtyard, a walk in the woods with the newlyweds, and then the first wedding breakfast and speeches that we had photographed in months. It was so nice to feel things beginning to get back to normal.
It was great to spend two amazing wedding days with these guys. Their sense of fun and enthusiasm was contagious and we shared so many giggles with them and their wonderful families - it felt like we were photographing an old friends wedding.
It was also awesome to work alongside one of our fav wedding videographers - Abigail Grace, on both days.
Best of 2021
Well, 2021 has been and gone, and seemingly was the quickest year on record! With the ongoing covid chaos, weddings were pretty much banned for the first five months but were eventually allowed to begin again in May. Since then, we photographed small weddings with just a handful of guests and huge all-out wedding celebrations. We finally photographed the weddings of several couples who now feel like old friends after moving through several postponements, and we have celebrated along with couples who chose to have not one, but two wedding days.
To be quite honest, the year was a bit of a rollercoaster - physically and mentally. With so many couples postponing from 2020 and early 2021, along with our couples who had already secured dates for 2021, we stopped taking new bookings for prime dates fairly early, but still, we knew it was going to be full-on. We photographed 68 wonderful weddings throughout the year, most of which took place in the latter 7 months. We lived as hermits to stay safe and healthy so as not to have to let anyone down, we worked our socks off to keep up with editing and album designs, and social media and blogging pretty much went out of the window. It hasn’t been the easiest, but we survived!
After everything that we went through in 2020 and early 2021, the utter joy of being able to get together once again, to hug loved ones, to party the night away together, and to actually finally be able to get married has given us so many pure, raw, and wonderful moments to photograph. It has been a joy looking back at these moments through the wedding photographs that we have taken.
Thank you to our amazing 2021 couples, their families and their friends for having us along. We say this every year, but it’s never been more true. The journey that we have been on together will always remain with us. It has been an absolute joy and pleasure to document your wedding days.
Healey Barn - Freyja and Glen
"We can not thank you enough for all the work you have done to capture our wedding day. The photos are better than we could have ever wished for and we can't wait to share them with our family as they have captured our day so perfectly. You were both such a pleasure to be around on the day itself and created a wonderful and fun atmosphere to be in.”
“Our wedding video is incredible and we have already had so many compliments from our family on the quality and amazing storytelling. You have captured moments that otherwise, neither of us would have seen from my mum waving to my brother as we walked down the aisle to Glen's dad cracking a joke as Glen introduced my dad and for this, we will be forever grateful. I have watched it countless times now and every time it takes me back to the best day of my life. Somehow you have captured everything we felt on the day and we sincerely appreciate everything that you have done to create unforgettable memories for us that will last a lifetime. Freyja and Glen x”
The start of 2021 was very quiet for us, as it was for everyone in the wedding industry due to Covid 19 causing havoc and putting the country into lockdown again. By the time Freyja and Glen’s big day came around in April, they had to alter their plans - delay their big day by a week, and downsize to 13 attendees, but they did it! At the time, wedding receptions and socialising indoors was not permitted, so their wedding day consisted of their wedding ceremony and a few drinks in the courtyard - 2 hours in all. It was a gorgeous, intimate wedding, with a fun-loving couple, and their awesome family, and we loved it!
As so many of their friends and family could not attend, they looked for a videographer to film the moment that they became husband and wife. Without finding the right person for the job, they asked us, and so on this wedding day, we also shot our first wedding film! I am not including it, as for the time being we are not thinking about changing direction - however, who knows one day? It was great fun to try something different, and going on their comments, they loved the result!
