Durham Castle - Hannah and Adam

Last summer, we were back again at the gorgeous Durham Castle for Hannah and Adam’s big day. The UK at the time was going through a heat wave and the met office had issued an extreme weather warning. Temperatures on the day were reading as 29 degrees c, so as you can imagine, it was hot! We left home - making sure we were fully kitted out with extra water bottles to meet them as they both got ready for their ceremony at St Paul’s Church in Spennymoor. It was a beautiful church with a stunning modern stained glass window and the most lovely vicar who made us feel so welcome. After their ceremony, we headed into Durham and to Durham Castle to begin the celebrations. Upon arriving, Adam topped the popularity chart as the most popular person ever, as he had booked an ice cream cart! You could see their guest’s relief and the pure enjoyment on their faces. Adam and Hannah even insisted that we had one, and they were amazing! After a few family photos, we spent a quick 5 minutes capturing a few shots of the two of them in the castle grounds, but really, it was just too hot to do many, so after their meal when the day had begun to cool a bit, we went for a walk down to Prebends bridge.

It was a wonderful day with two really great people, and we were so happy to have been there to capture it all for them in photographs.

Bamburgh - Hannah and Jack

We drove up the coast to Bamburgh for Hannah and Jack’s festival-style wedding. They were married in the beautiful St Aidan’s church, walking afterward to the next-door field where they had hired and pitched three large tipi‘s. I loved their attention to detail, with their homemade bunting and macrame decorations, personalised event wristbands, and street food vans. After a bit of celebrating, and a bit of food, we kicked off our shoes and took a walk on the beach, and considering their wedding was on a Saturday in the summer, we were so lucky to have a nearly empty beach, with of course those iconic views of Bamburgh Castle.

Matfen Hall - Sarah and Mark

Matfen Hall is a fabulous location for a wedding. It is a stunning Northumberland wedding venue with beautiful gardens, a magnificent great hall, a huge sweeping staircase, and views of the countryside that go on as far as the eye can see. It was the perfect place for Sarah and Mark’s relaxed yet traditional wedding. They were married in the Great Hall, after which, they and their guests headed outside to celebrate with drinks and lawn games. After a few pictures in the stunning grounds, they all headed inside to the Morning Room for some great speeches and a meal together, before dancing the night away. It was a fabulous day with a great couple, and we were so happy to have been a small part of it.

Newton Hall - Rachel and Noah

We were back up north for Rachel and Noah’s wedding at Newton Hall. Newton Hall is a fun and quirky wedding venue right next to the coast in Northumberland and is always fun to photograph at. We first met Rachel when she was a bridesmaid for her friend Sarah whose wedding we photographed at Doxford Hall in 2017, so when she got in touch and asked us to be her wedding photographers, we were delighted. From day one we clicked, and quickly, it was like we were old friends. It was awesome to see these two kindred spirits tie the knot and celebrate their day with their family and friends. It was a wonderful day and a joy to photograph.
